I asked the Sisters Damiana, Mariana and Juana Teresa as a special favor to read the Scriptures during our wedding Mass along with two of my cousins. The first reading in Spanish was read by Adrianita and then in English by Sister Juana Teresa; The Responsorial Psalm was to be a bilingual interpretation sung a capella by Sister Damiana since she has a beautiful voice, and then Second reading was read by Susana in Spanish and Sister Mariana in English. The whole wedding day was beautiful (I’ll tell you more in detail in a different post).
I was holding my tears not to cry as I was waiting to walk down the aisle next to my uncle Jorge. The wedding processional started and I kept staring at my husband-to-be the whole time, still holding my emotions not to cry of happiness. I was doing pretty well until it was Sister Damiana´s turn to sing the Psalm. From the moment she sung the first word I started crying, the musicians playing along with her made it even more beautiful, Jason was crying too. We are used to hearing her sing every Thursday so I knew it was going to be beautiful, but that day on that very moment, it was an undescribable emotion, than even as I am writing these lines my heart beats faster because I really felt like if God had sent us His personal heavenly angels to sing at our wedding. I didn’t stop crying during the whole Psalm, besides in my mind I didn’t stop thinking how those musicians so wonderfully could have found the right notes to play along with her, they simply sounded exquisite. I also thought how lucky I was for having such fabulous musicians, not only lucky but proud that two of them were friends of mine so what an honor it was! Héctor Tavira, long time friend and León Vázquez who is not only my friend but almost like a cousin. Anyway, the whole ceremony was really emotional but most of all really BLESSED. We enjoyed it sooo much , just as the reception too.
Next day, when we were about to take the airplane to our honeymoon, I called Sister Damiana to thank her for all her help at the Wedding Ceremony , and also their help in changing my life!, because although you might not know this, they really have. They have become in my family and I Love them with my whole heart so I needed to call her to let her know that. When she answered the phone she said: - “ I was at mass but I came to answer your phone call fast because I know you are leaving soon to your honeymoon and I have something important to tell you: When you asked me to sing the Psalm at your Ceremony, I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it, so I decided to ask the Lord in Prayer to let me know exactly what to do. After being in prayer He inspired me to write the music for the Psalm you heard, so that was your wedding present from the Lord!, I actually got there early and gave the musicians the notes so they could play along”.
Can you imagine how I felt?!?! I started crying and I thank her again, because I was eager to go and tell Jason the wonderful news. Of course when I told him he cried as well.
And that was the best wedding present ever! At this day, when I talk, or write about this present, in my mind I can still sing the Psalm remembering perfectly the tone and sound, thinking about the response we were meant to say that day:¡El Señor es bueno con todos!, The Lord is good to all!. Read it when you can, it’s a beautiful Psalm. Psalm 145.
And that’s it for today, but I will keep posting episodes of the wedding whenever possible, Thank you to all the people that could be there with us, and for the ones that couldn’t thank you for reading this blog, being in touch and leave your comments.
God Bless.
